Noosha Golab
Genre
Abstract/Contemporary
Noosha Golab (b.1985, Tehran) is a visual artist based in Southern California. Originally trained as a graphic and jewelry designer, she gradually shifted toward painting to pursue a freer, more instinctive form of expression - one that allowed her to break away from structure and engage more deeply with material and emotion.
Her practice centers on non-representational works that explore form, texture, and spatial rhythm. Using charcoal, pastel, and other tactile mediums, she constructs surfaces that echo the rawness of natural elements - sand, earth, dust - through minimal yet deliberate gesture. Golab draws from the overlooked: folds, erosion, repetition, and the quiet shifts found in both nature and memory.
Often inspired by her Persian heritage, especially the traditional geometry and symbolism in rugs and architecture, her recent works reflect a personal reconciliation with cultural identity. These elements manifest subtly - through the use of red tones, layered lines, and restrained structure - inviting viewers to engage on both visual and emotional levels.
By blending intuitive mark-making with intentional design, Golab's pieces occupy a minimal space between vulnerability and control, inviting pause, reflection, and sensory connection.
